Christmas is over, and you’re wondering what to do with that perfect tree that you searched for, cut down, and brought home. Rather than drag it out to the curb for trash pickup, there are some interesting ways that trees can be recycled to help the environment!

Vertical forest… urban forest… social housing… green homes… what does all of this mean? An Italian architect has planned a 19-story apartment building to reside in the middle of a busy, Dutch city. Its unique design includes balconies that will be home to 70 different species of trees and plants. "Urban forestry is not only necessary to improve the environment of the world’s cities but also an opportunity to improve the living conditions of less fortunate city dwellers.”

Tiny, surrealistic paintings in the barkless spots on trees? You normally see street art in cities, but one Russian artist is taking her work deep into the forest. No one’s quite sure where these paintings can be found, but that just adds to the whimsy!
