Are urban forests equal to rainforests in carbon dioxide capture?

Urban Forest 2New research on megacities shows that urban forests – the parks, street trees, gardens, greenways and other green spaces in cities – are capable of storing almost as much carbon as tropical rainforests of similar size, making them a key part of combating climate change. Learn more about the research and the benefits of urban forests.

Urban heat islands are warming up.

These hot city environments increase risk of heat-related illnesses, asthma, and even death. Read about the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s research on heat islands in the Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, MD, areas.

Ten best U.S. cities for urban parks… yes please!
