Tree surgeons scrambled to Blenheim Palace cedar made famous by Harry Potter
At over three hundred and fifty years old, a special cedar of Lebanon is being hastily attended to by a team of experts trying to preserve the legacy of the ancient tree.
The cedar, made famous by its appearance in the Harry Potter movie, The Order of the Phoenix, has caused major concerns with the Blenheim Palace’s forestry team. The characteristic that brought the tree to stardom, the gaping hole in the trunk, is the cause for the demise of its structural integrity.
Another tree made famous by the Harry Potter franchise as the “Whomping Willow”, a yew in Hertfordshire, collapsed in 2014. Experts are unsure of the feasibility of saving the cedar, but they hope their efforts will allow the tree to remain a tourist attraction for years to come.
Wow, sad to see historical trees see the end. We have an Oak on our property that’s been there for 3 generations.
